Whether you are planning for a fun-filled family reunion or a friends get-together, Prawn Valley Farm is definitely the place to be! Located in Hulu Langat, approximately 35mins from the heart of KL, this prawn park provides guests with the choice of fishing for prawns at a manmade pond, an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet, or both!

Fishing

There are two ponds available at Prawn Valley Farm. Pond A is larger with a depth of approximately 6 feet whereas Pond B is smaller with a depth of approximately 4 feet. Therefore, with the availability of two manmade fishing ponds, Prawn Valley Farm is able to host about 120 pax a go. All you need to bring is a fishing rod! Alternatively, you may also rent one at their counter. Fishing baits are also available for purchase. The spacing there is comfortable and you would have the chance to fish to your hearts content. You won't have to worry about the lack of prawns even in a large crowd as the pond is replenished every 45mins. The price for fishing varies depending on the number of hours you aim to spend there.

Prawn Valley Farm's Fishing Price :

1hr – Rm30 2hr – Rm50 3hr – Rm68 If you decide to spend more than 3hrs fishing, additional hours are available at a lower rate. Once you are satisfied with your catch, you have the option to grill them on the spot!

Dining

Located right next to the fishing ponds, Prawn Valley Farm Seafood Restaurant is ready to serve hungry bellies. Prepared to present you with an array of fresh seafood displayed on a bed of ice, you will find a variety of prawns, lobsters, crabs, mussels, clams, scallops, squid, fish and more. Not satisfied with just seafood? You will also find lamb, chicken wings, assorted vegetables, cooked noodles and more available for your consumption. Priced at only Rm68/pax for 2 hours of all-you-can-eat seafood buffet, I would say it is very reasonable! I am a huge crab lover and trust me when I say I couldn't count the crabs I had on just one hand. My seafood quota for that month was done. For children, price is at Rm35/pax.

If you'd like to have a go at catching your own seafood, but fishing with a rod is not your thing, fret not! You can still have your attempt in catching live prawns and crabs in the restaurant's manmade metal trough. With the convenience of it being right beside your table and a metal tong as your fishing tool, it is much easier and children can have a go at it too! The restaurant's staff refill the trough with seafood every 45mins. Catch them and dunk them in the ice bucket provided before grilling them over good-old charcoal. The flavours of these fresh prawns and crabs are rich and sweet.

Tips on visiting Prawn Valley Farm, Hulu Langat

1. If a seafood buffet is what you are after, I'd recommend going earlier around 530pm-6pm. Since it is the first buffet session of the day, the frozen seafood will be nicely displayed on the bed of ice awaiting your arrival. This also means that you can have first pick on the larger crabs/prawns that are already out.
2. You would want to make a reservation in advance. By doing so, it saves you waiting time as there will be a lot of walk-in customers and you will have priority.
3. If you have a choice, sit at corners or seats that have a good opening gap in between tables. This will likely be where the staff pours the live seafood into the metal trough from. The prawns and crabs will definitely move about, but they usually won't go far.
4. Parking space is limited and non-sheltered. If you are coming in a large group, do consider carpooling. If you suspect that it might rain, bring an umbrella along. An ideal time in my opinion would be before 7pm.
